Symptoms of primary pulmonary hypertension include shortness of breath (especially during exercise), chest pain, and fainting episodes. The exact cause of primary pulmonary hypertension is unknown. Primary pulmonary hypertension is difficult to diagnose – often mistaken for more common heart and lung problems. If left untreated, PPH can be deadly.
