Ms. McCollom is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law as well as in Labor and Employment Law.  She is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Sixth Circuits. 

Ms. McCollom graduated from Rice University with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Linguistics in 1972, and a Master of Arts in Behavioral Science in 1975.  She graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1980. Ms. McCollom then joined the firm of Feeney, O'Hanlon & Moore, P.C. as a litigator primarily in the areas of civil rights and constitutional law.  In 1983, Ms. McCollom moved and founded the firm of Wood & McCollom in San Antonio, Texas.  While in San Antonio, Ms. McCollom gained litigation experience in business law.  In 1986, Ms. McCollom joined the Attorney General's office as an Assistant Attorney General.  In that capacity she defended complex civil rights and class action cases in the areas of employment law, federally funded programs, and education issues.  In 1994, she left the Attorney General's Office to return to private practice.

During her tenure with the Texas Attorney General's office, Ms. McCollom participated in testing litigation and other education cases regarding the interpretation and application of state law, State Board of Education rules, state and federal constitutional claims, and claims under a variety of federal statutes.  She successfully defended many Texas colleges and universities including the University of Texas in Austin, Texas A & M, the University of Houston, the University of Texas at El Paso and San Antonio and Texas A & I against suits brought by students, staff employees, and professors.  Ms. McCollom has continued to litigate cases involving employment and education issues since her return to private practice.
